Ogmore beach is a totally unspoiled beach, without a trace of commercialism. With sensational views at every turn Ogmore is dog friendly all year round, and only a 45 minute drive from the centre of Cardiff. There is a large parking area that can be reached from the B4524, and the parking charge is minimal. Toilets can be found here too. With so many beaches around the Cardiff area having strong dog bans in place, this beach is a real haven for dog owners.
Ogmore is a sand and shingle beach, with the sandy part exposed at low tide. It also has the great reputation of being one of the cleanest beaches in the region, so no need to worry about your pups paws getting hurt! It’s also great for swimming, surfing and fishing- so could be perfect for a family day out without worrying about leaving your dog at home. To make it even better there is a lifeguard service so you can fully relax.
There’s plenty more than just a beach here too, with a castle and some picturesque stepping stones along the coast there’s plenty to see, however where the area is so perfect and unspoiled there isn’t a lot to do. Maybe a picnic and some games of fetch will have to do! Ogmore beach doesn’t tend to get as crowded as other beaches either. You could even walk along the river to the beach instead of parking on the beach directly. On top of this, just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there are plenty of dog friendly pubs in the local area too!
So why not go and visit Ogmore beach with your dog for the day, and let me know what you think!
